Arweave is a permanent information storage system within the decentralized blockchain system. Its the first one that exists in history. It is an alternative to centralized cloud based providers like AWS.
Within this system we can archive information permanently for future generations without the risk of data being altered, lost or censored.
Centralized data is limiting because it hasn’t changed since the last 1000 years and is vulnerable to a centralized point of failure. If a fire, flood or government destroy the data then it is gone forever. Arweave is different in the sense that since the data is decentralized, it is replicated around the world making it impossible to remove in any doomsday scenario.
Arweave protocol is currently built on the HTTP protocol, in order to allow it to be accessible by our current web browsers. It can thus be used with our everyday tools and can be applied to every website that is currently in operation.

Another actual use case at the moment is the archiving of documents related to the Ukraine-Russian war for future historians to analyze.( already over 24 million tweets, videos and documents have been preserved and will have no way of being altered or changed).
